Message From the President

On behalf of the faculty, supervisors, and administration of Sentio University, welcome to the Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program! We are happy to have you join our community of learners who are dedicated to advancing the art and science of psychotherapy training. Sentio is a non-profit, public-benefit organization with a mission to advance the field of therapist training. In California, we accomplish this through the Sentio MFT program and the Sentio Counseling Center, a non-profit practicum site where therapy trainees provide high-quality, low-fee online counseling to diverse and underserved communities of California residents. We also produce therapist training materials that are used by graduate schools and practicum sites around the world, such as our series of Deliberate Practice training books published by the American Psychological Association. All training materials produced at the Sentio Innovative Lab are released under an open-source format, meaning that they can be used for free by training programs anywhere in the world. Our open-source library of training materials includes:

Sentio strives to foster a therapist training culture where trainees feel safe to experiment, show their mistakes, and get feedback, all in a context that is respectful and compassionate.  While we are very serious about rigorous training, we don’t take ourselves too seriously and we find opportunities to have fun!

Sincerely,

Tony Rousmaniere, PsyD
